July 4th

As our typical July 4th adventure goes, the whole family convened in
Whitehouse, TX to watch fireworks, eat like crazy, and swim.
This year, Wyatt and B were new to the mix. Introductions were made.
Punches were thrown. I think they'll be great buddies.

I don't think I held my baby more than 10 minutes the whole weekend,
which seemed great... until we got home.
Apparently I left my sweet boy in Whitehouse and brought home a holy terror.
Good weekend! Happy Birthday, America!

(We kept straightening him up, and he'd go right back to being crooked. What can you do?)

Happy Birthday, Elizabeth Garrett

4 Generations of Garrett's

Today my Grandmother turned 90! 90!! Can you even imagine?

Wyatt and I went over to Gabby's so that we could celebrate. Great Aunt Diane was there to join in the festivities. Aunt Kitties made the trip after work and finally got to spend some time with Wyatt awake. He was very glad to see his aunt.

Gabby served up a wonderful dinner: tortilla crusted tilapia, mashed potatoes, lima beans, corn bread. I made the dessert: rocky road cupcakes with candy bar frosting.

Grandma Garrett opened her presents and then enjoyed a dip in the pool. Heck of a way to celebrate 90!

(Wyatt - exhausted after a long day of celebrations!)

Happy Birthday, Grandma Garrett.

Date Night

Last night Jas and I went to Watel's World Piece to enjoy a dinner date and some Big Band music. Gabby came over to babysit, which we appreciated so much!
While we were enjoying olive tapenade and a bottle of wine, Gabby was giving Wyatt a bath. While we had chilled carrot soup and Kobe beef meatballs, Gabby and Wyatt were smiling away at each other. While we dined on dinner & dessert, Gabby gave Wyatt his favorite dinner: milk.
Our date was fantastic and much needed, and we came home to a drowsy baby
who went right on to bed.

Thanks, Gabby.

Fancy New Swim Pants

A Word From Wyatt:
Today we all went to Target together. I traveled around the store in the Baby Bjorn, snugly attached to Gabby (who I lovingly stared at the whole time). Gabby is great so today I put on the charm and smiled at her about 100 times.
Gabby bought me some new swim pants for her pool, which are pretty special. They have Elmo on them and they're for 16 pound babies, but I fit into them just fine.
This afternoon Gabby took me swimming with her and I did water aerobics in her lap. The pool was nice on such a hot day.
Check out my new work-out video...

The Stats

Jas took Wyatt to the doctor today for his two month check up. There was a rumor that 6 immunizations would be given, so I stayed home and made breakfast tacos to thank Jason for taking Wyatt to such a harrowing meeting. Wyatt's been sleeping most of the day, with the occasional wake -up- to- crank breaks. I can't blame him, though. If the doctor gave me six shots, I would definitely be complaining to someone in a very loud manner.

The doctor said that Wyatt was doing great. She answered all of my questions via Jason.
...and she gave us these statistics about our little piggy:

Height: 22 3/4 = 57%
Weight: 12 lb 1 oz = 72%
Head Circumference: 15 1/2 = 45%

Babies around this household appear to be thriving. :)

Water Baby

On Saturday, we put Wyatt in the pool. We started with just his little toes - he seemed okay with it. We then covered him with baby approved sunscreen, complete with zinc, put on his little hat from Cousin Laura, and then introduced him to the water. He was so content, Gabby was thrilled. Everyone wanted to take a turn holding him, so he motor-boated around the place. I think he's going to be a little fish. :)

Gabby - so thrilled to see Baby Wy in the pool!

Wyatt's Fun Time Mat

So our friends Heidi and Terry got us this Tiny Love Mat that has so many interactive parts, even I get overwhelmed. It has music, mirrors, bells, crinkly paper, lots of colors - you imagine it, this thing has it. I started putting Wyatt on the mat a few weeks ago, and he would kind of freak out and close his eyes and just not be very interested...but we kept trying and we did tummy time on this mat because that, at least, made TT more interesting.

The last few days, Wyatt and this mat have really clicked.
I think it's because Wyatt has put together that his hand is attached to his body and if he flails it out there, he can hit something and cause a reaction.

Well, this is the face he had on this morning after he hit the elephant bell. Scared the bejeezes out of himself, I think...

It also has this mirror attachment that you hook to the bars so that your baby can see himself. I must say that Wyatt might have inherited Jason's ego. That kid stared at himself for about 20 minutes with a smile on his face...as if to say, "hey there, you handsome devil".
Very funny way to spend the morning!
