Visit with Gabby

Gabby came and stayed with us this week to help out around the house. She did so much work (planting, painting, cooking, cleaning) and was an immense help. Wyatt was spoiled with attention, fawned over, every need met. Just look at that happy little face!

Like father, like son? Wyatt loved the sports car at the park!

The first time down the slide, Wyatt's face was sheer terror. The second time, he grabbed the side to avoid going down. But by the third time, he was ready to take on the terror!

W fights the car seat frequently and Gabby is a pushover! Here is Wyatt thumbing his nose at safety. We were, of course, parked. :)

Shopping for herbs with Gabby was a blast. He was able to touch and smell and rip up little leaves. Oh, the fun of shopping with the Gabby.

And finally, today we acquired our first set of summer shoes - Nike sandals. Oh my gosh! These are the cutest little things, and I am so surprised that his fat little feet fit into them.

Thanks for your help, Gabby. We couldn't have done it without you!

Go Team EJ!!!

Today we celebrated EJ's upcoming adventure to Neb.
We had a good time swapping stories (he and I both HATE IV's) and visiting. Here are a few pictures from our great day.
We all love you and wish you the best of luck, EJ! Safe journey!

What We're Reading

Since we're thinking about Lent and Easter non stop thanks to the giving up of sodas, Dub and I went to the public library in search of a cute Easter tale. What did we find? Big Bunny by Betseygail Rand and Colleen Rand.

While all of the other bunnies are born and grow to normal size, big bunny is...wait for it...BIG!
The other bunnies can paint delicate eggs and do things that involve fine motor skills. Big Bunny? He can only cover vast distances with his large bunny legs and do clumsy big bunny things.
But similarly to the Santa-Rudolph story, when it's crunch time and the Easter baskets and eggs must be delivered, the little bunnies can't do the job. No, no. It is up to Big Bunny to save Easter.

This is a cute story. In my mind, I imagine little bunnies sitting around in a circle painting Easter eggs and planning for the big egg drop off, so it was perfect for me. No Jesus in this Easter story, but it still gets my vote!

Don't Fence Me In...But Do Fence In The Hell Hounds

Uncle Jim was kind enough to come over two weekends in a row to help Jas build a fence that would create a pen for the dogs. Success! We can now put the dogs out and enjoy our backyard as well.
So...here is the evolution of a fence...

the start - digging the post holes & setting the posts - week one

taking a sugar cookie snack break - week two

looking good

Wyatt - showing Uncle Jim how a latch works

The final product, after my midnight painting job & subsequent touch up

Thank you, Aunt Sue Ellen & Uncle Jim. The dogs and their owners are very happy.
Woof!
