Over the River & Through the Woods to Grandmother's House We Go

This was Jason's first week of travel since the baby arrived, so Jason headed to East Texas and Wyatt and I headed to Gabby & Gramps'.

Let me just say, packing for myself is insane: flat iron, toothbrush, clothes, hair product, sunscreen, make up, etc...
Me plus baby, the H3 almost wasn't car enough to hold us all. We had a tummy time mat, a car seat, a stroller, two diaper bags, a suitcase, a bag of groceries, books, bottles, bottle racks...oh my GOSH, we had so much stuff. :)

We had a great time. On Monday we fixed a good dinner for Gabby and Gramps.

(Gramps & W watching the Ranger's Game)

Tuesday during lunch our big boy rolled over for the first time. Then he rolled back with a HUGE smile on his face. He's pretty much amazing.

(W, mid-roll for the first time)

After lunch, we packed up the baby and went to Firewheel mall, where W got a whole fall wardrobe. W hung out in the stroller & had a great time looking around at stuff. He was SUCH a good boy.

(part of the fall collection...)

Tuesday night we met Aunt Sue and EJ at Taco Diner for some brisket tacos and cheese quesadillas. Cousin EJ came home with u, & Wyatt stared at him the whole car ride back home.

Wednesday saw a wild pool party with kids from the neighborhood and my friends Angie, Kylie, and Jake. That was an event with hot dogs, cupcakes, and some crazy snafus.
Wednesday night, EJ and I went and saw Salt while Gabby and Gramps watched Wyatt. By this time, he was starting to get fussy because his routine was just messed up enough to cause some issues.

Thursday we spent the morning with a happy Wyatt, who loved smiling at Gabby.

We had a great visit with Great Grandmother Garrett and Great Aunt Diane after Gabby made us some delicious blueberry pancakes.

Then we did a little stop off at Bass Pro Shop before heading home to our pups and Jason.

(Bored with shopping - his father's son)

Friday, Jas, Wyatt, and I all met Aunt Kitties for lunch at the Original Market Diner. He slept the whole time, but has been his usual sweet self today.

It was a wild week, but we had a great time!
Thanks to Gabby and Gramps for sponsoring us. :)

Sue's Birthday & Swimming at Gabby's

Monday we celebrated Aunt Sue's birthday with a tea luncheon at Maudee's Tea Room.
Becky, Sue, Donna, Grandma, Mom, and Katie were all able to meet,
so it was a good sized crowd of cooing aunts. :)

This was Wyatt's first visit to a tea room and is undocumented, except for this writing,
because Jason's son doesn't lunch in a tea room! (insert raised eyebrows)

Wyatt and I went swimming at Gabby's later in the afternoon. Jas drove over after work and was able to meet us for dinner. I think that pool has more than paid for itself in entertainment this summer. We are so glad to have a nice, cool watering hole to hang out in!
Thanks, Gabby & Gramps!

Gabby Visits While Mom Goes to the Dentist

Today my Gabby came over to watch me while mom went to the dentist.
Mom kind of snuck out on me - if I'd known Gabby was here, I would've woken up from my nap a lot sooner. That Gabby is so much fun. She makes the weirdest noises and faces just for my entertainment. When Gabby's around, we play the whole time!

Here are some pictures of me and Gabby playing on the couch.
You can see how much fun we're having...

Moments Away From Rolling Over

Well, we've been enjoying the dog days of summer:
swimming, lounging around, lunching, the usual.

Wyatt got his first illness this month, an upper respiratory infection.
We took him to the doctor and she recommended running the humidifier and giving him saline drops, nothing scary. He's still congested and HATES it when Jason aspirates his little nose, but he's feeling better.

We've been trying the Bumbo chair since his head & neck control is getting better every day. He sits in it a little every day & has a whole new perspective on his nursery. He likes it for about ten minutes, and then he's bored and wants to do something new & fun. Sheesh!! Just like his dad...

He threw his first hand sign - a longhorn - something that Jas loved and photographed over and over. My Baylor blood says it was just a fluke. We will see who the Eyes of Texas are upon in the end...

And in other news, Wyatt is just moments away from rolling over. He is so persistent about trying to reach that goal - but when he finally gets on his tummy, I'm not sure what he'll do there. Tummy time is still not his favorite. He's going to be surprised.

July 4th

As our typical July 4th adventure goes, the whole family convened in
Whitehouse, TX to watch fireworks, eat like crazy, and swim.
This year, Wyatt and B were new to the mix. Introductions were made.
Punches were thrown. I think they'll be great buddies.

I don't think I held my baby more than 10 minutes the whole weekend,
which seemed great... until we got home.
Apparently I left my sweet boy in Whitehouse and brought home a holy terror.
Good weekend! Happy Birthday, America!

Happy Birthday, Elizabeth Garrett

4 Generations of Garrett's

Today my Grandmother turned 90! 90!! Can you even imagine?

Wyatt and I went over to Gabby's so that we could celebrate. Great Aunt Diane was there to join in the festivities. Aunt Kitties made the trip after work and finally got to spend some time with Wyatt awake. He was very glad to see his aunt.

Gabby served up a wonderful dinner: tortilla crusted tilapia, mashed potatoes, lima beans, corn bread. I made the dessert: rocky road cupcakes with candy bar frosting.

Grandma Garrett opened her presents and then enjoyed a dip in the pool. Heck of a way to celebrate 90!

(Wyatt - exhausted after a long day of celebrations!)

Happy Birthday, Grandma Garrett.

Date Night

Last night Jas and I went to Watel's World Piece to enjoy a dinner date and some Big Band music. Gabby came over to babysit, which we appreciated so much!
While we were enjoying olive tapenade and a bottle of wine, Gabby was giving Wyatt a bath. While we had chilled carrot soup and Kobe beef meatballs, Gabby and Wyatt were smiling away at each other. While we dined on dinner & dessert, Gabby gave Wyatt his favorite dinner: milk.
Our date was fantastic and much needed, and we came home to a drowsy baby
who went right on to bed.

Thanks, Gabby.
